MILLBROOK, Ala. — Pastor Tim Aldridge of Cornerstone Community Church, a regional ministry center with three locations and a weekday café, confirmed this week that his experience in ministry has not been characterized by difficulty.
The statement came in response to comments by Beth Moore, who told Christian leaders recently that her generation had done a "disservice" to those who followed by making ministry look easy and glamorous.
"I would just say that hasn't been my experience," said Aldridge, who has led Cornerstone since 2009. "Ministry is a calling and a privilege."
Aldridge is the author of The Reproducible Pastor: A Field Guide to Sustainable Ministry Growth, published in 2023. He is scheduled to keynote the Alabama Ministry Growth Summit this fall, where his session is titled "Building a Ministry Platform That Lasts."
He noted that Cornerstone's third location opened earlier this year. A fourth is under prayerful consideration.
"I think what Beth is describing may be true for some contexts," Aldridge said. "But our team is incredibly healthy."
He said the key to a healthy team was developing reproducible systems for pastoral leadership and ministry expansion. He said he had written about this.
A spokesperson for Cornerstone confirmed that the church's lead pastor compensation is not publicly disclosed.
Cornerstone Community Church holds services at its Millbrook, Prattville, and Montgomery Road locations. The weekday café is open Tuesday through Friday.
