Christian Publisher Announces New Title on Faith and the Public Square; Previous Titles on Same Subject Published in 2017, 2021, and 2023 Also Available

Cornerstone Press will release 'Faithful Citizens: How Christians Can Engage the Public Square Without Losing Their Witness' in August. The author's 2021 title on the same subject is available in paperback.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Cornerstone Press announced this week that it will release "Faithful Citizens: How Christians Can Engage the Public Square Without Losing Their Witness" on August 12, the publisher's fourth title on Christian engagement in the political and civic sphere since 2017.

The publisher released "Gospel Witness in a Divided Nation" in 2017, "Faithful in the Fray: A Christian's Guide to Political Engagement" in 2021, and "The Quiet Faithful: Speaking Truth in a Noisy World" in 2023. All three remain in print. Cornerstone's website lists all four titles under the category "Faith and Culture."

The 2026 title is authored by Dr. Warren Kettner, a professor of ethics at a Tennessee seminary. Kettner also wrote the 2021 title.

He said this book is different.

"The 2021 book was written in a different moment," Kettner said. "This moment required a new book. The questions Christians are asking now are not the same questions they were asking then."

He was asked how the questions had changed. He said Christians are now asking how to remain faithful witnesses in an environment of increasing polarization.

He was asked whether that was also the subject of the 2021 book. He said the 2021 book addressed polarization in a different political context.

He was asked whether the 2023 book, written by a different author and also published by Cornerstone, addressed Christian witness and polarization. He said he had not read the 2023 book carefully.

"Faithful Citizens" is 224 pages. It retails for $18.99. It includes a study guide for small groups.

A spokesperson for Cornerstone Press confirmed that the publisher plans to release a title on the subject of Christian nationalism "when the moment calls for it." She said that moment had not yet arrived.

Kettner's 2021 title, "Faithful in the Fray," is available in paperback for $14.99.
