Local Bible Church Reports 14 Elders; Notes All 14 Are Named Brad

Grace Bible Fellowship's elder board describes the situation as 'a remarkable providence' and has developed an internal numbering system.

FRISCO, Texas — Grace Bible Fellowship confirmed this week that all 14 members of its elder board share the first name Brad, a situation the congregation has addressed through a formal numerical designation system approved at the board's February meeting.

The elders, who range in age from 34 to 61, are now referred to in official church documents as Brad 1 through Brad 14. The numbering reflects tenure, with Brad 1 designating the longest-serving elder and Brad 14 the most recently appointed.

"It's a remarkable providence," said Brad 7, who serves as elder board chairman and has been a member of the church since 2009. "When you think about the sovereignty of God in the details, this is one of them."

The situation emerged gradually over 11 years. The church's founding elder board in 2015 included two members named Brad, which the church's newsletter at the time described as "a fun coincidence." The current 14-member composition was completed in January when Brad 14 was affirmed by congregational vote.

Brad 3, who chairs the worship committee, noted that the naming convention has simplified certain administrative processes. "When Brad speaks up at a meeting, everyone knows to narrow it down," he said.

A 15th elder position is currently under consideration. The prospective candidate's name was not disclosed. Brad 1 said the board would announce the candidate after a period of prayer and discernment.

Grace Bible Fellowship has 312 members. None are named Brad.
