JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Covenant Community Church unveiled its latest digital initiative Tuesday: the Shepherd app, a mobile platform designed to help husbands biblically lead their wives through real-time location tracking, text message monitoring, and call history review.
"We realized modern marriages need modern solutions," said Pastor Marcus Webb, Covenant's senior pastor. "Shepherd gives husbands the tools to lead with confidence and clarity. It's about transparency — wives knowing their husbands are invested in their spiritual growth."
The app, available on iOS and Android, allows husbands to view their wives' location at all times, receive alerts when their wives contact specific people, and review message threads. A premium tier includes email monitoring. The Shepherd dashboard displays a wife's daily schedule, calendar entries, and shopping history.
"My wife used to make financial decisions without consulting me," cited Chad Philips, a Covenant member using the app for three months. "Now she knows I'm aware of every transaction. It's brought us closer."
Church leadership cited the biblical foundation. "Ephesians 5 is clear — husbands are the head of the household," Webb said. "The Shepherd app simply digitizes that responsibility."
The church plans to recommend the app during premarital counseling and has partnered with three other regional churches to expand its reach. A family plan allowing fathers to monitor adult daughters is in beta testing.
When asked whether wives have input on the monitoring, Webb paused. "That's actually a great question," he said. "The short answer is: they don't need to. Trust means not asking questions."
